The Honda Civic Type R has officially had its fuel economy rated in the U.S.
The car, which is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 316 horsepower, will return 22 mpg in the city, 28 on the highway for a combined 25 mpg. All Civic Type R models will exclusively be front-wheel drive and use a six-speed manual transmission.
For comparison, the Honda beats out its all-wheel drive competition from Ford and Subaru. The Focus RS returns 19 mpg city, 25 highway and 22 combined while the Subaru WRX STI is rated at just 17 in the city, 23 on the highway and 19 mpg combined.

Not all of its competition is more thirsty though, as the all-wheel drive Volkswagen Golf R gets the same city and combined rating as the Honda while turning in 31 mpg on the highway.
Pricing for the Type R is still yet to be announced in the U.S., with Honda so far saying it will cost around $35,000.
